THIS WEEK ON ALL 4 ADVENTURE…
Into the rainforest, they go! Jase, Simon and Jesse are headed north into some areas they haven’t been able to reach due to cyclones.
First goal is to reach the headland, but there’s still some water on the road hanging around from the wet season. Will that slow them down?
As they pass through water crossing after crossing, they are amazed at how much the area has grown back since the last time they were here after Cyclone Trevor in 2019. They get to the point where they had to turn back, but this time they make it through. Welcome to the jungle, boys! More wet tracks ahead.
Further along, the boys meet a real challenge with a crossing that puts their winches to the test. Jesse learns from the mistakes of others.
The next morning, they have to do a bit of bush landscaping to carve their path. Soft sand, ruts and logs make for slow going.
When they finally make it to the beach, they dump the boat in for a quick fishing session before sundown. Looks like trout is on the menu tonight!
It’s an hour’s voyage the next morning out to Bligh Reef. The water here is pristine and teeming with fish. Barracuda, shark mackies, trout… but when the sharks start to bite, they make a pitstop on a small sand cay where Jase recalls the story of the mutiny on the Bounty.
Jase pulls out the skin they saved from the fish the other day, and Jesse assists him in making Coral Trout Chips.
The next morning, they pack up the UTV and head out to explore the history of the Lockhart Mission. As they reach the end of the trail, they spy some yellow up in the treeline and go on a pawpaw hunt.
Further along, they come across the tell-tale signs of a former Lockhart Mission settlement built in 1927. It’s another interesting bit of history that shouldn’t be forgotten.
On to the swimming hole, but it’s lucky they brought the chainsaw with all the fallen trees and branches blocking their path. They find an burnt out old Landcruiser and a fire-damaged humpy, but where is the rock bar promised on the map? They go on to discover something even more unexpected!
