THIS WEEK ON ALL 4 ADVENTURE…
Jase, Simon and their mates Jesse and Sam are hoping to make their way to the Berkeley River. They’re 175ks down the track, so there’s no turning back now. But there are more water crossings and winching and shovelling ahead.
Reaching the rocky shoreline, it is foreboding as Simon and Jesse predict a challenge for Jase in the Big Rig. It’s late in the day, and they’re not using spotters. With so many rocks, Jase loses sight of one that he drives right over. Crunch! The only option is to move the rock, but it doesn’t want to give. It’s all doom and gloom; Jase gets understandably stressed as everything he’s worked for is on the line. No wonder this is the first time anyone’s put a boat in here by land.
After a night at camp, the boys unload the boat and buggy. They’ll need to travel light to get through this area. They plan their route, not knowing if the spot they’re headed will even be able to accommodate a boat launch. Gullies and ravines make it a difficult path to travel, and what looked passable on the satellite map proves to be impossible on the ground. So they head off on foot with Sam leading them to barra to cheer them up.
The Berkeley River rock bar lifts the spirits. Sam gathers the bait, and Simon and Jesse are instantly on with Queenies. Sam’s even getting barra on the hand line. They’re having so much fun, they stay until the sun goes down.
The next day, they’re off to see King George. There’s no shortage of water crossings, but it’s Jase’s birthday, so there’s a quick camp set-up and celebrations ahead.
But the next morning, Sam gets choppered out to deal with a family emergency leaving the boys on their own with a mud map drawn in the sand. It’s not long before they hit the wet puddles leftover from the rain that came through a few days earlier, but they’d take mud over rocks at this point. The King George river crossing is the perfect spot for a wash.
Simon barrels through a sandy straightaway with Jesse to follow. Jase goes as far as he can without dropping tyres and winches the rest, but han-ger is setting in, so it’s time to feed the beasts. It’s all hands on deck at camp, as Jase shows the boys how to cook up a Big Mac Wrap.
Some of you have spied the new prototype knife roll that Jase has with him on this trip. We don’t have them on the webstore yet, but you can fill out this form if you would like more information when it’s available. His popular Boss Choppers are in stock!
They’ll have to syphon fuel out of the boat to fill the buggy, then it’s time to head off track to find the King George river and make their way on foot to the falls. From their perch above, they see the tourist boats come in below- the more practical way to visit.
