THIS WEEK ON ALL 4 ADVENTURE…
Jase and Simon continue to make their way through the beautiful Pilbara as they trek from Newman to Port Samson by way of a speccy gorge with directions from a local. It’s a day of water crossings ranging from steppy and rocky to deceptively deep. The marble-like river gravel on the banks challenges every entry and exit. And when the directions say to take a left down the creek bed, Jase goes down the creek bed. There’s some hasty winching to save the camera gear from a watery demise. Out comes the chainsaw to clear the hidden exit from debris so Simon can have a slightly easier time getting through with the caravan. Best to go set up camp and dry out, luckily there is a different vehicle that Jase can hop into later while the carpet finishes airing out!
The next day they reach the gorge waterhole filled with a contrasting green algae. Never one to pass up the chance for a dip, Simon is right in despite the temperature, and Jase is soon to follow. But they need to keep moving so it’s back in the vehicles with heaters blasting as they hit the crossings again. Jase finds himself buried and more winching ensues, but it’s all a bit of fun when you’ve got the gear to help make recoveries easier!
As they near the coast, Jase recalls a spot he used to visit when he was a young man working out in this area. So they pull in to have a look at what remains of the ghost town of Cossack. The old buildings and cemetery have a tale to tell of the people who lived there. But there’s also an unmarked grave nearby of a famous Aussie, Red Dog.
Jase cooks up a mouth-watering Jaffle Iron Steak & Philly Pie which passes the Simon test with flying colours. (One of our most frequently asked questions over the last year has been ‘What is the knife or cleaver that Jase uses in the All 4 Adventure cooking segments?’ And the answer is finally here! We’ve got the new Boss Choppers available on our webstore. Due to arrive before the end of the month!)
Jase and Simon meet up again with Kiel in Port Samson at the check-in for the Desert to Reef Fishing Competition, the charity event Kiel founded to support Police Legacy following the tragic loss of four local officers in a chopper accident. The boys are happy to be able to support this amazing charity, but they do have a bone to pick with Kiel about those ‘follow the creek’ directions.
The next morning the early birds are out with their worms, but our fishermen are the last to set sail at 6:30am in the monster barge. (It’s the barge’s All 4 Adventure debut, but don’t miss the Unleashed Exclusive series ‘Barging Through’!) But having some locals on board means they can head straight out to a spot with fish on tap!
There’s little trevs for Jase, a rankin cod for Kiel, and Simon wonders if there’s a prize for the biggest shark. Half a tuna makes it into the boat, but that’s not going to take the title. Finally Simon hooks a monster… could this secure his place on the podium at weigh-in?
