THIS WEEK ON ALL 4 ADVENTURE…
Jase and Simon head back to one of their favourite spots… Lorella Springs. But with a million acres, each trip offers something new, and this time is no exception. The boys are on a mission to follow in the footsteps of German explorer Ludwig Leichhardt who came to a mysterious end while trekking through northern Australia. Based on drawings in Leichhardt’s journals, his camps were nearby, so they set out to see if they can find any trace.
But first, there is a rock formation that Rhett tells them is worth a detour, and after getting through the sandy tracks and rocky escarpment, Jase and Simon can’t resist a climb. With views like this, it’s not hard to appreciate what an amazing country we live in!
Back in the trucks, they set out to look for a place to camp. Tonights dessert is a Jaffle-style Apple Pie.
The next day, they come across a pristine lagoon which calls to them like a siren. It’s not as perfect as it looks, but Simon does manage to catch a record… of some sort.
It’s time to see if they can find one of Leichardt’s scar trees using the maps from his journals. So they head through a washed-out creek crossing that’s familiar from a trip 10 years ago. There’s drop offs and sharp turns, bull dust and holes before turning off down a track that hasn’t been used in three years. They go as far as they can in the trucks before turning to the buggy to get them the last bit of the way. Will they be able to find the location where Leichhardt camped?
SPECIAL THANKS to Rhett Walker and the Lorella Springs Wilderness Park.
