THIS WEEK ON ALL 4 ADVENTURE…
Jase and Simon head to Roper Bar to meet up with their mate Jesse, a zoologist who specializes in salt-water crocodiles. They set up a base at Big River where station owner Daniel has called in for help relocating a couple of nuisance crocs which present a danger to the animals and children at the station.
Any good trap needs a bit of bait. Feral pigs roam the area destroying wetlands and spreading disease to stock, so the decision is made to cull a couple to stop one menace while removing another.
They move to the first spot where it’s said a 3 metre croc lurks. The boys set up the trap, and Simon does his best croc impression to see if their handiwork will do the job. Satisfied that the bait is set, the only thing left to do is wait.
The next day the boys have gotten a tip from the chopper pilot that there is a secret fishing spot past a locked gate. The harder it is to get to, the better the honey hole. So they take the trucks as far as the end of the track, before unloading the quads to get even further towards the pandanus-lined river system. Even then, they have to trek a bit on foot to get to the freshwater fishing spot to flick the lures.
After two days, the trap has done its job, and the team gets Chompy into the truck to relocate him to a creek with access to the Roper River. Then it’s back to camp for a chicken curry in a hurry.
Later that night, it’s time to find the big boy causing trouble. Armed with a harpoon, a flashlight, and a couple of ropes, they leave their sanity at shore and head out in a tiny tinny. Will they meet their match out on the water?
