In this episode, Jase and Simon help Rhett, the owner of Lorella Springs, cut a track out to a new fishing spot. The plan is to open from the Rosie Creek Remote Fishing Camp to another fishing spot further up the coast.
Simon gets himself into a predicament that ends up compromising his brakes. It’s time for some bush mechanics to crimp off the brake line. Looks like he won’t be a complete runaway for now.
They make it to Rosie Creek and cook up a camp oven chicken stew. Jase is also stewing as he tries to figure out how they are going to continue on with the mission despite the brake problems.
The next day they head off to start forging the new trail. Rhett tells them there is a clearing up ahead where they’ll leave Simon’s truck and some of the gear while continuing on with Jase’s truck and buggy. There’s still time for Simon to get bogged, but it’s a quick recovery.
Plans get put on pause while they wait out a tide. So Jase shows a survival tip to collect water with a solar still if you’re ever stranded without some.
They head out along the salt pans before parting ways with Rhett and his family. Jase and Simon push on to the new fishing spot and try their luck with the rods. Turns out the place is gold, and supper is caught before the tinnies are even in the water.
It’s on the way back to camp when trouble starts. As part of the magic of television, Jase has to repeat his crossing in order to get the camera shot, except on his way back over, he breaks through the sand crust into the thick mud.
Their usual method of recovery doesn’t work due to Simon’s compromised brakes, and before Jase is out, the tide turns. Anxiety starts to rise when Simon also gets bogged. And just when they thought things couldn’t get worse, Simon lays his truck down on the side. How will they get out of this one?
